Established in 1989, we are craftsmen dedicated to the preservation of Washington's better old buildings. Having worked in many abassadorial residences, museums, and architectural landmarks, our quality and diligence have few peers in this city.
At our shops Washington D.C., we replicate and restore windows and doors, working with domestic hardwoods and imported mahogany and teak. Our goal is to build elements appropriate to the building and its history. The proportion, details, materials, and operation of the millwork in older buildings (pre WWII) are more than charmingly archaic. The simpler means and methods of the work, the more robust parts and material quality all make for more handsome and durable architecture. It is among these things we find our work most respected and needed.
In addition to providing a single source for all wood architectural elements, we do related metal and glass work. With both a traditional forge and modern welding and machine tools which can repair and reproduce 18th century lock parts or fabricate slide bolts to match the character of existing iron work.
We provide glass for all our windows and doors. We stock European restoration glasses, make forms and bowed glass, do specialty insulating units and restore and reproduce leaded stained glass, all in house.
This breadth of experience and capacity provides a matrix for efficiency. When problems are solved progressively, when communication between client and craftsman is face to face, when design parameters come from the materials nature- beauty and harmony can be achieved.
