Window Refurbishment
For windows where function, not decay, is the primary problem.
· All work carried out on site
· All replacement parts to very closely match originals
· Sash, parting beads, and stop beads removed from frame
o Loose paint and putty scraped from jamb and sash
o Sill, jamb and trim parts repaired as necessary with Abatron epoxies or real wood.
· Sash benched at work area on site
o Broken glass replaced
· Historic glass used on request
o Loose putty and glass replaced or resealed. Traditional putty used
o Meeting rail or stile cleaned and repaired as necessary
o Damage to sash repaired with real wood and/or epoxy
o Sash machined for interlocking weather strip as necessary
· Sashes rehung in jambs
o Pulleys scraped and lubricated, replaced with similar if necessary
o Interlock metal weather strip wire brushed and waxed or replaced with same as necessary
o For double hung windows top sash set and fixed in position. Bottom sash hung on weights and pulleys with new braided nylon rope or brass sash chain
o For casement windows sash hung on original hinges, as possible, fit for
5/32” perimeter gap. Spring bronze weather strip installed.
o Parting beads and stop beads replaced as needed with same
o Finish painting with sash in place
