This project particularly suited the Craftsmen Group's diverse capabilities. Each room called for a great deal of custom millwork; arch-top windows were custom made, doors and moldings were reproduced to match original examples within the house. Design elements included oversized pocket doors, a Murphy Bed, and luxurious master bedroom and bath suite, each elegantly detailed and finished. All millwork elements, (bed, night tables, arched windows, and moldings) were fabricated in our shop. A state of the art sound system, and security systems were integrated into the new work. Apart from providing all custom millwork, The Craftsmen Group handled all general contract duties, including exterior work at the pergola and brick terrace. The finished project received an award of achievement from Washingtonian, June 1992.
