These clear story windows were built by us so their materials and finish would harmonize with this arts and crafts inspired interior. Fixed glass windows are a cinch. Projects like this got us more interested in window manufacturing.
This exciting eave is the dominant exterior feature. Extending almost 5', it echoes it's Japanese roots and Wrightian inspiration.
The joist at top are notched above ridge for venting. Those below are cross vented with 2' x 4' sleepers.
Before this room was 16' shorter and had 8' ceilings. We removed the roof truss and added a clear story with custom windows and trim in oak and redwood. The kitchen was expanded and a bathroom and a home office were added.
